How to complete the exercise
- Find a quiet place and use headphones or clear speakers.
- Set the volume to a comfortable level before you begin.
- Count the low-pitched tones mentally and ignore the higher-pitched tones.
- Listen to the whole track without pausing or replaying it during your attempt.
- When the track finishes, write down your total before checking the answer.
Count Low Tones Only
The first tone in the exercise is your target sound. For this exercise, we call it the “low tone”, regardless of how high or low it sounds to you.
Count the first tone as 1, then count every occurrence of that same sound. Ignore all other tones.
Set your volume to a comfortable level. Listen to the whole track without pausing or replaying it, then write down your total.

Answer: 34 low tones.
This total includes the first tone in the exercise. Count each matching tone once, even when it lasts longer.
If your total differs, replay the track to identify where you lost count. Repeating the same recording can help you understand the task, but remembering its answer is different from maintaining attention on an unfamiliar sequence.

No, on the assessment day, it is played. Then it’s followed by another track. You will get about 7 tracks in a row.

I’ve done Tea OCC and it is not as hard as this example. If you can crack this you’ll fly through. The tones aren’t consistent in this example too… just saying
